“Make Today Count!” — Psalm 90:12

Make Today Count

Psalm 90:12 (NIV)

Some days feel ordinary.

The alarm rings.
The sun comes through the window.
Another school day begins.

But the Bible reminds us of something beautiful:

“Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.” — Psalm 90:12 (NIV)

This verse isn’t meant to make us worry about time.
Instead, it invites us to see each day as a precious gift from God.

A brand new morning means a brand new opportunity.

An opportunity to learn.
An opportunity to help someone.
An opportunity to choose kindness.

For a child, wisdom doesn’t mean knowing everything.
Sometimes wisdom simply means asking a quiet question:

“How should I use today?”

Maybe it means finishing homework with care.
Maybe it means helping mom or dad with something small.
Maybe it means cheering up a friend who feels sad.

And yes, wisdom also means remembering to laugh, play, and enjoy the beautiful world God created.

When children begin to understand that their time matters, something wonderful happens.

Their days begin to shine.

Small choices become meaningful moments.

Helping someone pick up dropped books.
Sharing a smile.
Learning something new.

These simple moments build a wise heart.

At the end of the day, when the sun sets and the sky turns golden, a child can look back and say:

“Today was wonderful.”

Not because it was perfect.

But because it was lived with purpose, kindness, and joy.

Psalm 90:12 gently reminds us that every sunrise is an invitation.

An invitation to grow.
An invitation to love.
An invitation to make today count.

And when we live this way, day after day, our hearts grow wiser, brighter, and fuller of joy.

Every day is a gift.
Use it wisely. Use it joyfully.
