FRIENDSHIP GROWS WHEN WE MAKE ROOM FOR EACH OTHER. 💛

“Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves.”
— Philippians 2:3 —
Making friends isn’t always about saying the funniest thing, being the most interesting person in the room, or making sure everyone notices us.
Sometimes friendship begins with something much quieter.
Listening.
Letting someone else finish their story.
Asking,
“What do you think?”
Saving a seat.
Cheering when a friend does well, even when we wanted to be first.
Noticing the child who hasn’t found their group yet.
Philippians 2:3 teaches us about humility.
But humility does not mean believing we are less important.
It means remembering:
“I matter, and so do you.”
That little change can transform a friendship.
Instead of:
“Look at me!”
we can sometimes ask:
“How are you?”
Instead of always wanting our own way:
“What would you like to do?”
Instead of competing:
“You did a great job!”
Strong friendships are not built by one person always winning.
They grow when two people feel seen, heard, respected, and cared for.
So this week, give your child one small friendship challenge:
Make room for someone else.
Listen a little longer.
Ask one more question.
Give one genuine compliment.
Invite someone in.
Tiny acts of humility can open the door to beautiful friendships.
A simple prayer
Dear God,
help me be a good friend.
Teach me to listen, care, and notice others.
Help me remember that my feelings matter — and my friends’ feelings matter too.
Give me a humble and loving heart.
Amen.
💛 Today’s little reminder:
Good friendships grow when we stop asking, “How can I stand out?” and start asking, “How can I show up for someone?”
